Overall A Top Season For Stoneywood : Rayner on 2010-08-30

The 1st team looked to be off on another trip to the bottom of the table after 3 defeats at the start of the season but an 11-match winning streak boosted them into the Premiership for the 2011 season, finishing 3rd to Arbroath and Heriots.

The 2nd team avoided relegation from the Strathmore Premier League on the final day of the season, and in the end, winning comfortably.

The 3rd team, having replayed their fixture against Portcullis from earlier in the season have won promotion back to Grade 3 for the 2011 campaign.

The weather played a role in all three of the weekends fixtures but all were completed and all meaning a great season.

The 1st team reached the Scottish Cup Semi-Final earlier in the season, narrowly missing out on what would have been a well-deserved final.

The 3rd team also reached the Semi-Final of their League Cup, losing out to a strong Gordonians team.

A season of great success for Stoneywood, and all are looking forward to the 2011 season.

Mixed Weekend For Stoneywood : Rayner on 2010-08-21

The 1st team looked to keep their title hopes well and truly alive with a home match against Drumpellier, but the away side posted a decent total of 212 for 5. The home sides chase never got started, but another great knock from Jan Stander (81) most surely be knocking on Scotlands door for their winter matches.

The 3rd team had a must-win match against 3rd placed Kemnay. A win meant promotion was still possible, and that the Peoples Park side would leapfrog Kemnay. The home side struggled through their opening overs, buta solid knock from opening batsman Andrew Rayner (34) kept the innings momentum moving forward. Wickets kept falling at the other end until Rory Saunders (35) came to the crease. Rahul Chandu took the wickets of the two set batsman, and Stoneywood were bowled out for 124. With the chase looking to be difficult on a typical Duthie Park pitch, the first ball of the Kemnay innings rolled along the floor. Kemnay were looking set reaching 104 for 5, needing just 21 runs to win. But an inspired spell from David Kidd (5-29) picked up three of the wickets, and would have had a fourth if the ball hadnt gone through the stumps. Abdullah Afridi (2-21) then cleaned up the tail.
